Sunburn Remedies

Sunburn Remedies

Last weekend we had friends visiting us at the beach, with lots of time boating,  swimming, entertaining, and just enjoying the outdoors.  In spite of all efforts I got a little to much sun exposure.  When that happens it is good to know what to do. I recently read a wonderful blog post from my friend Charlene Florian that is full of helpfull solutions and facts I like to share.

If you have Aloe Vera plants in your garden or at your house, look for the most mature Aloe Vera plant to ensure medicinal benefits, break a leaf open and apply the gel directly to the skin.  It supplies oxygen to the skin cells, which in turn increases the strength and synthesis of skin tissue – rejuvenating the skin, hydrating it and increasing flexibility.

If you don’t have an aloe plant at home, here are 4 alternative steps to soothe sunburned skin:

  1. SoakDraw a luke warm bath and add Kerstin Florian Krauter Chamomile Herbal Bath; it will hydrate and calm down inflammation.
  2. Moisturize.  Kerstin Florian Aloe Gel is a fantastic after sun moisturizer with Organic Aloe Vera, Organic Arnica, Organic Calendula, Organic Green Tea + a special Laminaria Algae from France that has proven powerful anti-inflammatory benefits. Aloe Gel is also a great anytime skin moisturizer.
  3. Antioxidants.  Drink a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice and apply a topical vitamin C, like Kerstin Florian Serum C +, which will soothe the burn.
  4. Anti-inflammatory.  If needed take an aspirin or ibuprofen; it will reduce inflammation and pain in the skin as well.

PS. Mixing Aloe Vera juice in your smoothie will enhance physical endurance and stamina and it is also great to soothe the digestive system.
