How is everyone’s year kicking off? Do you have any resolutions for 2019? Add loving yourself to your list, because it is one of the most important things you can do for yourself in this new year! ♥

The month of *love* is here, and we wanted to take the opportunity to align us all to the best possible outlook on our relationship with ourselves first and foremost.

YES, we manage an international self love movement in detox skincare. But it doesn’t mean we don’t still struggle. Insecurity is something that comes with the impermanence of human form. That’s also what led us to dig deeper and research mindfulness practices that gravitate towards experiences that bring senses to a heightened awareness. February is the month to stop wanting to be anything other than what you are right now.

You are exactly where you need to be, with exactly the life experiences you need to have to culminate the knowledge you need for the next chapter. Don’t miss out on right now because you aren’t feeling worthy of the JOY that’s abundantly present if you’d just CHILL and notice it.

Valentine’s Day is not only a hallmark holiday for couples to celebrate. Sometimes it’s a reminder of the times you’ve guarded your heart, led your soul in the right direction, or chose to be single to lead your best life.

Wherever you are in your love life, celebrate the body that leads you through each day. Resonate with a kind acceptance of each cell, each pore, each stretch mark. YOU are worthy of your own attention and care. Don’t run on empty to serve others- they will receive a half assed version of your love. When you serve from a place of gratitude for the present moment, you can channel the mindfulness of being here and now, to really HEAR instead of just listening, to then really act out of understanding.

Check in with yourself. Look at your goals for 2019 and ask yourself what is attainable and realistic daily to get you to where you want to be. And remember to pamper yourself along the way;)

Pampering Yourself

And feeling like you deserve it. Some people might feel guilty about “Pampering” themselves. Why? Because we live in a society that tells us that women should be serving those around them (rather than themselves) endlessly. If acts of service is your love language, then great for you. You may align with this. However, some of us fall in other categories of how we best accept and give affection, and don’t realize that we need other affirmations from ourselves (or our partners, even).

Self Care isn’t Selfish.

Let’s dive into the love languages. Gary Chapman has a best selling book that outlines the 5 love languages more in detail, but here is a quick run-down:

“Do you know the 5 Love Languages? Here they are:

  1. Words of affirmation – using words to build up the other person. “Thanks for taking out the garbage.” Not – “It’s about time you took the garbage out. The flies were going to carry it out for you.”
  2. Gifts – a gift says, “He was thinking about me. Look what he got for me.”
  3. Acts of Service – Doing something for your spouse that you know they would like. Cooking a meal, washing dishes, vacuuming floors, are all acts of service.
  4. Quality time –Giving your spouse your undivided attention. Taking a walk together or sitting on the couch with the TV off – talking and listening.
  5. Physical touch – holding hands, hugging, kissing, sexual intercourse, are all expressions of love.

Out of these five, each of you has a primary love language which speaks more deeply to you than all the others.”

Now think about how these correlates to your relationship with yourself! If you are a words of affirmation person, saying a “I love you” in the mirror might make a world of difference for you. If you are a physical touch person, maybe lathering yourself in lavender body butter might make the difference for you in feeling secure in your skin.

Not in a moment you want to be in right now? -ITS OKAY. Don’t succumb to the anxiety that builds in the space between where you ARE and where you WANT to be. You will get there. Catalyze action to get to your goals without building up any more unnecessary stress around the situation you’re in. Enjoy your series of NOWs along the way and don’t block the blessings in the meantime.
